As an Indian mother lovingly cares for her baby, a baya bird builds and decorates a nest. The subject matter suggests a preschool audience, but the detailed watercolors, while lovely, are subtle, and the poetic text, sprinkled with a few Hindi words, is rather complex. The baya bird's behavior is further explained in an author's note. This is more mood piece than story.
