Dan Yaccarino.
In this poem from Prelutsky's collection It's Halloween a boy confronts ghosts all around his house--"There are eight ghosts in the attic, / There are seven on the chairs"--until the final ghost sneaks up and hollers "BOO!" The level of scare is just right for toddlers, and Yaccarino's clear colors, clean curving shapes, and swooping ghosts work well in this board book format.
