The author of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie offers advice on monster selection, feeding, exercising, and grooming, as well as "putting your monster to bed." The signature deadpan humor misses the mark, often coming off as puzzling non sequiturs, but the bright artwork is sweet, showing an amiable green monster with purple spots and bat ears playing with a towheaded boy.
