Illustrated by
Lambert Davis.
With a coastal backdrop, a boy and his father watch and wonder about a pod of orca whales swimming by. Cool blues and greens dominate the realistic paintings of the whales in and above the water. While the reverent tone is occasionally overdone, particularly when imagining the whales discussing the humans, Bunting does skillfully wrap factual information into the narrative.
