With drypoint and monoprint illustrations washed in muted but emotive colors, this is a free-verse, present-tense retelling of the librettos of Wagner's great Ring Cycle. Although there is nothing that marks this particularly as a book for young people, it would be an accessible and dramatic introduction for newcomers to the operas.

Ana Palmero Cáceras.
Nazoa's unadorned retelling offers a homely approach to the familiar tale. Cáceres illustrates the humble text with devotional pictures inspired by medieval illuminated manuscripts. Her richly colored art successfully combines traditional symbols of Christianity with images of Latin American flora and fauna. This import may be small in size, but its respectful reach across cultures and centuries is wide-ranging.
