In this story from the Nkundo people of Central Africa, Mama Nsoso's chicks are shivering in their nest at night. She promises they'll build a new "ilombe" (house), but, instead, each day something yummy begs to be eaten. "Busy-busy" Little Chick gets to work, gathering materials and building. Harrington uses repetitive elements and refrains to keep children participating, while Pinkney creates energetic watercolors.
