All goes well, until they encounter a storm and are shipwrecked. Their misadventures as they return to civilization are told in rhyming couplets well suited to reading aloud and accompanied by lush illustrations evoking the time period.

(3) 4-6 Illustrated by Aldo Galli. Forty years after initial publication, the classic animal fantasy is reissued in a handsome new edition featuring thick cream paper and full color plates. Galli's illustrations are often dark, reflecting the tension of the story. Even when Galli uses bright greens and blues, his stylized rabbits appear appropriately dwarfed by the wide world.
