While the sketchlike digital illustrations enhance the playful tone, the making-friends message gets sidetracked by the rambling story.

They journey to the pond, sing songs, lose track of time, and name each squirmy critter they find. Peppy digital illustrations complement the carefree tone of this appealing tangent-filled narrative of a girl and her dog enjoying the simple delights of backyard nature.
