The Benson family forgets to feed their cow as they head off to market. While setting up their apple stand, the Bensons are blissfully unaware that the cow has followed them and is causing trouble at all the stalls. The rhyming story, simply told with gentle humor, is illustrated with light-filled paintings that show a bucolic rural setting.

This glimpse of a typical morning in the life of a milkman is written in unfailingly tight rhyming fragments. This impressive feat is abetted by Jones's McCloskey-esque art evoking an earlier but not unfamiliar era.
