(4) PS Illustrated by Steve Wilson. A hedgehog who insists that he is trying to sleep is getting steamed: "you" keep turning on the light. Is it to torment him, or because he asked for a drink of water ("I did? Really?")? Readers who like wisecracks, silliness, and slapstick will appreciate this somewhat frantic anti-soporific, whose narrative evolves in panels filled with action sounds and griping.

(3) 4-6 Illustrated by Jeff Kulak. This good-humored, gabby how-to by a Canadian indie rocker is unflaggingly encouraging of experimentation ("Even 'ba ba ba ba-ba' can sound pretty great!"). Crossingham covers everything from songwriting and recording to putting on an all-ages show and avoiding stage fright. Throughout the sharp, retro-style layouts are sidebars in which both mainstream and indie-rock songs and musicians are reference points. Ind.
