Brothers Edward and Jason Fraser (No Dogs Allowed and 'Gator Aid) get a new next-door neighbor. Charley, a frenetic first grader, nearly overwhelms the episodic plot, but there's still plenty to enjoy, including humorous dialogue and eccentric secondary characters. Edward's enthusiasm for art and drama make this a good choice for growing fans of dePaola's Fairmount Avenue books.

William Kurelek.
Kurelek overcame a miserable childhood and subsequent bouts of severe depression to become a successful artist famous for his paintings of prairie life. Beautifully illustrated with Kurelek's paintings and written feelingly by the founder of Tundra Books (publisher of Kurelek's A Prairie Boy's Summer), this handsome picture book is a fitting tribute to an important Canadian artist.
