When her brother dies of a drug overdose, high-school senior CeCe is held responsible by both the authorities and herself. Chapters alternate between the present day, with CeCe awaiting trial for murder in Piedmont Juvenile Correctional Facility's Behavioral Therapy unit, and the months leading up to Cyrus's death. CeCe's healing process is formulaic, but the mystery surrounding CeCe's culpability will keep readers engaged.

Marijke just wants her boyfriend to say he loves her. Lily just wants a boyfriend. Together the girls decide to take some cues from their favorite romantic movies and try some grand gestures. The cute conceit leaves plenty of room for a deeper story about families, love, friendship, and second chances, all on the way to happily ever after.

Southern-BBQ expert Nora leaves small-town North Carolina to compete on Taste Test, a reality-TV cooking competition featuring talented teens, including a celebrity chef's dreamy but arrogant son. When suspicious accidents result in injuries and untimely eliminations, Nora investigates the sabotage. The TV-style melodrama is a bit thick, but overall the book is breezy, enjoyable fare. "Contestant recipes" are included.
