A diverse group of misfits--Madge, Joe, Kiku, and Walter--unite at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to stop a Nazi plot as the U.S. teeters on the brink of WWII. While discovering clues connected to Arthurian legend that could help foil the Nazis, the kids each develop magical gifts, which tests their loyalty to one another. History and mythology collide a bit awkwardly in an otherwise engaging spy quest.

In the strong trilogy-ender, Ava (Blythewood; Ravencliff) expects her final year at Blythewood Academy to be exciting, not fraught with world-ending danger. After glimpsing a potential war-ridden future, Ava must band together with allies both human and Darkling to defeat evil Judicus van Drood. Goodman wraps intelligent female characters in Faerie lore and real WWI–era events for an appealing historical fantasy.

Avaline Hall (Blythewood) can't wait to return to Blythewood Academy, where she's being trained to protect humans from supernatural dangers, and to Raven, the mysterious winged boy she might love. When the school is threatened, Ava must decide what she's willing to sacrifice to save it. While this sequel's paranormal romance feels clichéd, it will hook fans of series like Twilight and Fallen.

Blythewood turns out to be more than just a boarding school--students are handpicked and trained in archery, magic, and bell-ringing in hopes of fighting the darkness of Faerie. Once the lengthy story gets going, Goodman's eccentric cast of characters will hook readers.
