With Todd Hasak-Lowy. In this heavily fictionalized memoir, Holocaust survivor Gruenbaum recounts his experience as a young boy living in Prague's Terezin concentration camp. Tight, present-tense first-person narration adds an unusual sense of immediacy to this historical story but results in a voice that sometimes feels too modern and shallow. However, Michael's youthful perspective may appeal to younger readers.
