Discussing the various reasons for missing children, such as runaways and parental child-snatching, the book solidly dispels the exaggerated figures of "stranger abductions" often reported in the media. Although the murders of missing children is a valid related topic, the inclusion of material on random schoolyard ambushes and fatal child abuse seems to veer away from the main subject matter.
