Doctor Hopper and Nurse Rex Barker, the stuffed-animal team from Next! Please, race from one unabashedly kooky toy emergency to another. The vibrant, uncluttered images set against blocks of bold color are a good match for the lightly humorous, plainspoken text; both will be especially effective in group readings.

Dr. Hopper, a stuffed rabbit, has a profession that will likely interest preschoolers: she and Nurse Rex Barker take care of ailing toy animals. They provide a teddy bear with button eyes, mend an unraveling knitted sheep, and console a sad cat with "bald patches from being loved." In his humorous, inviting illustrations, Inns places simple, furry figures against boldly colored backgrounds.
