Mireleh, the youngest of three daughters, is dismissed by her father when she declares she loves him "the way meat loves salt." The homey quality suggested in the title is rendered in the energetic peasant-like feel of the linocuts. Jaffe and Zeitlin have included excellent documention and suggestions for extending the use of the stories beyond simply telling. Bib.
