Dustin's father blackmails the coach; Sammy loses his power hitting when forced to switch from aluminum to wood bats; Trip alienates his father when he considers pursuing music instead of the major leagues. (4) YA Night Fall series. Is it a bad case of acne or is Nick's burning skin an act of demon possession linked to a nearby well? Nick isn't the first person this has happened to, but he's determined to solve the mystery before ending up dead like the others before him. A breezy hundred-page read for supernatural horror fans who might balk at more substantial books.

(4) YA Night Fall series. During a power outage in Dani's town, twenty-seven cryogenically frozen prisoners thaw and mysteriously disappear. They--and Dani's best friend, Jake--are in an alternate reality created by a cult leader, a world Dani has to enter to rescue Jake. The premise is too complex for such a short book, but reluctant readers may enjoy the high-interest, often gruesome plot.
