Beatrice Zinker, Upside Down Thinker series.
Beatrice and her best friend, Lenny, launch Operation Upside, distributing classroom recognition awards for being kind, warm, or (in the case of their third-grade teacher) the most strict. When one award falls into the wrong hands, Beatrice's efforts to recover the certificate lead to an unexpected friendship development. Lively, exaggerated eggshell-blue drawings enliven every spread of this humorous school story.

"Beatrice Zinker always did her best thinking upside down"--which isn't always easy. Her new third-grade teacher warns that "upside down antics" belong on the playground, and Beatrice's best friend Lenny suddenly wants to be "different" (read: normal). Beatrice is full of heart, and wordplay and rhymes throughout the text capture her creative spirit. Orange-splashed illustrations provide a Beatrice's-eye view of those around her.
