Africa: Progress & Problems series.
With an introduction common to all the volumes, this series gives a comprehensive picture of Africa's sociopolitical problems and issues. Ethnic Groups is written with some personality, but the others read like textbooks; still, each volume offers a wealth of information, albeit unsourced. Education and Modern Africa have timelines.
