Morris tackles this subject by drawing on international sources of photographs and juxtaposing pictures from such diverse places as Canada and Ethiopia. Her simple text emphasizes the diversity and similarities of the world's families, but one of the statements, "all children are part of families," does not take into account parentless children who live in institutions. A map and an index detailing the photos' origins are appended.

Simple prose describes some properties of teams, such as wearing uniforms, cooperating, and planning. Large, colorful photos from around the world illustrate the different ways adults, children, and/or animals can work together to accomplish a goal. A pictorial index identifies the country of origin of each picture and offers more information, while a world map at the end of the book locates each country.

Repeating a familiar format, clear full-color photographs show children and adults, alone or in groups, at work or play. The simple texts stress the universality of the activity; pictures celebrate the diversity of people. A pictorial index in each book repeats each picture in miniature, identifies its country of origin, and provides specific information. World maps locate each country.
