In Paredes, which profiles the Mexican-American poet, writer, and folklorist, Murcia takes the time to illuminate her subject's character through humorous anecdotes; in contrast, Chavez seems cursory and incomplete--unaccountably, considering its subject was hardly an elusive figure.
