With promises of pretty snow, frozen lakes, and glamorous icy crowns, the Cold Water Witch tries to trick a little girl into taking her place in a frozen land. The clever child catches on and instead releases from frozen enchantment a girl not unlike herself. Lacy whites and purples set the chilly scene for this slight folklore-inspired tale.

Baby Polar ventures away from his mama to frolic in the falling snow, loses track of her when the snowstorm worsens, then enjoys a snuggly reunion. Preschoolers will relate to the cub's playful, independent spirit and simultaneous need for mommy comfort. The cool colors of the collage-style art set up a nice contrast to the warm story.
