In this companion to Lost at Sea, Jack and Orrie travel to Nepal to go mountain climbing with Dad and his girlfriend. The concluding rescue scenes are drawn out and unrealistic, but the story, narrated by both siblings, hits just the right tone when conveying Orrie's conflicted emotions about a new maternal figure and Jack's unflappable determination to prove himself to his father.

Orrie and her brother Jack are traveling across the Atlantic on a yacht owned by their mother's boyfriend, Skip. When Skip is swept overboard and their "clinically depressed" mother retreats into silence, the siblings must sail the ship on their own. Orrie and Jack make some baffling choices, but the brief novel contains a lot of action and will appeal to reluctant readers.
