A present-tense text narrating possible experiences of some hungry orcas loosely organizes this fact-filled introduction to the wildlife of Canada's Great Bear Sea. Puffins, sea lions, salmon, a blue shark, and others make appearances in the crisp, excellent full-color photographs throughout. Occasionally the text doesn't precisely map to the images, but overall the book provides a serviceable starting point for young readers studying the region.

Striking photographs of the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia feature majestic landscapes and form a backdrop for Life's fact-based, year-in-the-life narrative following grizzly, black, and spirit bears. In Garden, equally dazzling up-close photographs under nearby Great Bear Sea accompany the pertinent text explaining why seals, otters, and sea lions take shelter in rocky seal gardens during storms. Review covers these titles: A Bear's Life and The Seal Garden.

Dramatic photographs of British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest area accompany this story of a lone wolf that lives on one of the small offshore islands. The narrative covers what these wolves (who could "be considered marine mammals") eat, how they find mates, and how they raise pups. Though the text veers toward anthropomorphism at times, this is an engagingly up-close visit with the species.
