In their third outing, amateur sleuths Kari and Lucas accompany Kari's archaeologist uncle to Kenya. All the new sights--and Runholt weaves in plenty of them--mesmerize the fourteen-year-old girls ("We don't have that in Minnesota!"). Though it takes a while for the mystery (who's looting African artifacts?) to kick into high gear, fans of the series will enjoy the girls' latest adventures.

The teen-girl detectives from The Mystery of the Third Lucretia are back. This time, best friends Kari and Lucas are hot on the trail of a piano prodigy kidnapped during her Edinburgh Festival premiere. Too many details lead to some draggy patches, but the story's mix of friendship, adventure, and mystery will keep readers turning pages.

A visit to the local museum leads to an adventure that takes Kari and a friend to London, Paris, and Amsterdam. The girls chase an art forger across Europe, collecting evidence to prove to the police--and Kari's mom--that he's guilty. The story is slow to gain momentum, but Kari's lively voice will entertain readers.
