In this vehicle-centric lift-the-flap title from the team behind the picture book Tow Truck Joe, a friendly red tow truck dons a pirate costume and heads out to meets its friends on Halloween night. A tow truck's work is never done, though, and along the way, Joe stops to help various vehicles in distress (a monster truck, dressed as Frankenstein's monster, with a flat tire, for example). The rhyming text bounces along, and the cheery illustrations feature such endearing details as a yellow cab dressed as a bee; a compact car with cat ears and whiskers; and a van wrapped up, hood to trunk, like a mummy.

In this companion to The Goodnight Train, a sprinkling of "dream dust" sends three children to sleep as the train pulls out of the station. "Chugga! Chugga! / Shhhhhhh! Shhhhhhh!" Purple- and blue-toned illustrations depict the rhythmic bedtime story's dreamy images, including sheep, a pillow fight, dreams, and a closing lullaby. Two vertical spreads provide interesting perspective.

All shined up and ready to go, the Goodnight Train leaves the station pulling beds of tucked-in children. The train chugs up a hill, through a tunnel, and over a bridge to Dreamland. The highly detailed and imaginative mixed-media illustrations in deep blues and greens reflect the excitement and wonder of the journey, and the rhythmic text will lull sleepy listeners.

"Do you see the Asphalt for paving the road, / or the big shiny Bulldozer pushing a load?" A simple text in rhyme and detailed, clear illustrations follow from A to Z the work at a construction site. What makes the familiar topic of additional interest here is that the year-long building project results in an amusement park, with Z for "Z-O-O-M!" as kids ride the long-awaited roller coaster.
