Bullied junior Badi Hessamizadeh enrolls (as Bud Hess) in private school after vandalizing his old school and attempting suicide. When anonymous threatening letters begin appearing in the paper, suspicion falls on him. Although the bullying is a bit overplayed, it doesn't detract from the suspenseful mystery or the seriousness of Bud's actions. Bud's voice is a potent mix of teenage angst, grown-up anxieties, and deep-seated anger.
