Seven bunny siblings try to avoid bedtime, but one by one, they fall fast asleep. Readers may hope for a twist, but this book--featuring watercolor scenes of bunnies at play--is a standard, albeit soothing, sleepytime tale.

(3) PS Illustrated by Valeri Gorbachev. One night, just as the barnyard animals are trying to sleep, four wild turkeys burst noisily onto the scene. When the irate farmer threatens, "I'm gonna have a turkey feast!" the farm animals do their best to hide the intruders. Bouncy rhyming text counts from one to ten and back down, with amiable illustrations lending energy and humor.

(4) PS Illustrated by Carol Baicker-McKee. "Catch a snowflake from the sky... / sparkle sparkle wish. / Spread our snowy angel wings... / flutter flutter swish." Stuffed terry-cloth chicks, some wearing knitted scarves and hats, prepare for Christmas by hanging ornaments and baking cookies. The text is more concerned with rhythm than meaning, but its gentleness will lull young listeners. A cookie recipe is included.
