Stone’s (Paiute) generous narrative illuminates an important eighteenth-century Indigenous figure. Saturated, hand-painted illustrations rich with historical details bring the era to life. The vignette-dotted backmatter includes selected resources, authors’ and illustrator’s notes, and an afterword.
