Jenn (Cursed; Damned) and her team prepare for a final stand against "the Cursed Ones" with combat strategy, magick, and their secret weapon--an airborne virus. Tension among the teammates runs high due to romantic entanglements and deep personal biases. Short, action-filled vignettes convey the vast scope of the conflict but make for a convoluted plot, and after so much tragic incident, the happy ending feels abrupt.

After her mother's death, Katelyn moves to Wolf Springs, Arkansas, to live with her grandfather. As Katelyn adapts to small-town life, the supernatural secrets of Wolf Springs are unveiled after a student is killed. Crisp narration keeps the book going, but quicker plotting would have raised the stakes.

Jenn (Crusade) and her team of hunters seek other vampire-fighting resistance groups. Jenn struggles to hold onto hope while supernatural soldiers attack and reformed vampire/love interest Antonio returns to his old murderous ways. Many backstories and perspective shifts sometimes cause the plot to lag, though the previous volume's unusual but organic blend of mysticism and Catholicism continues to be effective here.

As vampires infiltrate society, hunter Jenn is betrayed to "the Cursed Ones" and her sister is kidnapped. Jenn and her team race to find Heather before vampires "convert" her. The pace tends to lag through detailed backstories. However, the rural Spain and New Orleans settings provide intriguing context for the combination of Catholicism, mysticism, and voodoo the team uses against its enemies.
