This rather insubstantial rendition of the classic Christmas carol is given a Southern twist while closely paralleling the original. "My sugar" presents gifts of magnolia blossoms, catfish jumping, plates of grits, Southern belles, and "a porch swing by a peach tree." The easy rhythm may be sung to the original tune. The friendly illustrations embody the charm of Southern hospitality.
