Accompanied by generic illustrations, this straightforward beginning reader introduces tractor-trailer trucks, auto-haulers, farm trucks, construction trucks, and other large work vehicles in simple, uninspired (though age-appropriate) language. Each new term is underlined for emphasis. There's nothing new here, but this may have appeal to reluctant new readers.

(4) K-3 Illustrated by Richard Courtney. This fairly standard look at these prehistoric creatures is presented as a series of double-page spreads. Accompanied by color illustrations, the simple text identifies various dinosaurs, speculates on how they lived and raised their young, and discusses how paleontologists dig for fossils and study dinosaur tracks. Adequately written and illustrated, the volume never rises above the many other books available on this subject.
