(3) PS Illustrated by Steve Haskamp. Gomer the dog takes his stuffed toy, Little Gomer, everywhere, even though Chi Chi the Chihuahua calls Gomer a baby. When Gomer loses Little Gomer, it's Chi Chi who finds it, so Gomer gives him his own "Little Chi Chi" and the Chihuahua and toy become inseparable. Kids will recognize Gomer's emotions and enjoy the canine-packed illustrations set in an idyllic urban park.

(4) K-3 Illustrated by Steve Haskamp & Steve Haskamp. Monkey sets out to deliver pizza to a party. Doubling the number of wheels each time, he upgrades his vehicles from a unicycle to a bicycle to a car, ending up with a sixty-four wheel train. Though it occasionally falters, the simple rhyming text is enhanced by the lively illustrations, which extend the story with humorous details. Even the pre-math set will cheer the arrival of the still-hot pizza at the party.

(4) PS Illustrated by Steve Haskamp & Steve Haskamp. Max's mischief annoys everyone in the family as well as the neighbors and mailman because she steals food, digs up flowers, and generally creates doggy havoc. When the vet explains that dogs of Max's breed need lots of exercise, the family complies, and Max improves--mostly. The slim story is extended by acrylic interpretations of large-headed Max in action.

(3) K-3 Illustrated by Steve Haskamp. In a light and silly tale, Pumpkinhead sets off on a journey to determine whether everyone in the world has a pumpkin head. Children will enjoy being in on a joke played on Pumpkinhead and the gullible residents of Pumpkintown, who are depicted in the acrylic illustrations wearing a variety of googly eyed pumpkins atop their human bodies.

(3) K-3 Illustrated by Steve Haskamp. This adaptation of Aesop's familiar fable has very little conventional text; instead, readers peruse dozens of signs along the route of Tortoise's race with Hare. Some, with distinctive shiny surfaces, depict actual roadsigns. Others, held by the spectators, display such messages as "Bad Hare Day" or "Tortoises Are Slowpokes." Readers will enjoy tracing the competitors' progress across the colorful pages.
