Appropriately silly and entertaining, all the verses lend themselves to joyful recitation. Colorful, animated illustrations of kids coping with the exigencies of eating enliven the text.

(3) PS Illustrated by Claire Henley. This is a delightful collection of poems about bathtime by American, British, and Caribbean poets. The poems range from the traditional ("Miss Susie Had a Baby") to more contemporary ("Granny Granny, Please Comb My Hair"). Many feature childlike imagery, such as the comparison of a bathtub to an aquarium in "The Tub." Henley's bright illustrations are appropriate for the intended age group.
