(4) K-3 Illustrated by Mary Kate McDevitt. "What the world needs now is love, sweet love. / No, not just for some, but for everyone." Bacharach and David's 1965 hit song has a timely message, but--as with many picture books jerry-rigged with lyrics--the chorus is repetitive on paper. Fortunately, this small-scale book offers visual charm and variety via McDevitt's lively art, featuring a diverse group of kids in assorted scenarios.
