So when an ambitious vampire comes on the scene, Nigel is happy to let him take the reins--that is, until the new vampire's evil intentions come to light. Funny and lots of fun, younger teen readers will enjoy this series-ender.

(3) YA Illustrated by Andrew Pinder. Fifteen-year-old Luke is going through a transformation, but it's not the typical teen stuff. Yes, he's growing hair in odd places, but he's also howling at the moon, craving raw meat, and marking his territory--not cool when you're already picked on in school. A diary format including line-drawn doodles makes this humorous romp a (super)natural choice for slightly older Wimpy Kid fans.

(3) YA Illustrated by Andrew Pinder. Vampire Nigel (Notes from a Totally Lame Vampire) is happily dating Chloe--until new super-bully Jason arrives with his sights set on stealing her away. Nigel uncovers a secret about Jason that he hopes will help win back Chloe's affection. Like in the first book, humor and angst commingle with horror tropes throughout the diary format, complete with black-and-white doodles.

When new-girl Chloe arrives at school, Nigel's infatuation, recorded in this diary-format narrative, triggers a transformation that gives him full vampire powers and makes him long for her blood. There's lots of humor to be found amidst the adolescent angst.
