In her fourth easy-to-read chapter book, Beezy teaches her dog Funnybone to fetch; Beezy and her friends are stumped by their homework assignment until Funnybone (and Gran) provide the answer; and Funnybone takes a ride in a hot-air balloon. Beezy is a likable character, and these simple stories have lots of child appeal. The lively illustrations are well placed on the page.

Bank Street Ready-to-Read series.
Kara finally gets a loose tooth, but is crestfallen later that day when she realizes she has literally lost her newly shed tooth. The tooth fairy doesn't mind and answers Kara's note about where lost teeth end up by telling her to check out her baby brother--who has a newly emerging tooth. Warm watercolors enhance this explanation of the inner workings of the tooth fairy's world.

In this third chapter book about Beezy, she trades riddles with Gran and Mr. Gumm, finds a snake while picking berries with her friend Merlin, and gets an unusual new unicycle-riding player for her baseball team. The stories and their cartoon-style illustrations are amusing enough, but readers who don't know the previous books might feel a little lost.

This second book to feature Beezy and company includes three stories: Beezy's friend Merlin helps her come to appreciate her name; Gran tells Beezy and Merlin the legend of Rabbit and Panther; and Beezy's dog, Funnybone, crashes a field trip. The amusing episodes are sure to interest beginning readers, and the gouache illustrations, though occasionally stilted, are full of energy.
