Illustrated by
Gavin Scott.
Animals count up to ten and down again in this lighthearted picture book about emotions. It begins with one “grumpy” koala, two “nervous” bunnies, “three” restless lion cubs, up to ten “excited” quokkas. Negative feelings are featured as the animals count up, but they’re replaced with positive feelings on the way down. The lion cubs are now “peaceful,” the bunnies “relieved,” and the koala “feels safe and warm.” Williams’s soothing text is well matched by Scott’s cozy illustrations.
