(4) K-3 Illustrated by David Sim. The text describes the solar system in simple, wide-eyed terms; illustrations show children and animals in a spaceship taking in the celestial splendor. There's too much repetition for the book to succeed without the accompanying CD (with audio and visual animation), but the wonder-filled illustrations are, well, uplifting. Information on the universe and space exploration and musical notation are appended.

(3) PS Illustrated by David Sim. This volume celebrates the circle, square, and triangle. Bright, appealing gouache, acrylic, and pastel paintings show frolicking animals, dancing children, and their surrounding environment, all made up of the three basic shapes in various combinations. The accompanying CD includes a song version of the text and an animated video of the story.

(4) K-3 Illustrated by David Sim & David Sim. Wendy Woolcoat, a sheep, is mostly content to sleep and eat grass, but she secretly dreams of flying. After rescuing a fairy, Wendy's wish is granted. Although the book is slight, the whimsical illustrations, executed mainly in springtime blues, greens, oranges, and pinks, bring what there is of a story to life.
