(4) 1-3 Illustrated by Ivica Stevanovic. Twins Scarlett and Sam's Passover seder comes alive when they time-travel to ancient Egypt. There, they meet the obstinate Pharaoh, watch the Egyptians experience the Ten Plagues, and help Moses and Aaron bring the Jews out of slavery. Accompanied by off-putting full-page caricatures highlighting the major plot points, the text effectively conveys to young readers the significance of the Exodus.

(4) K-3 Illustrated by Ivica Stevanovic. When all of the tushies decide to leave town, everyone realizes how much they need a reliable behind. With its absurd premise, goofy rhymes, and outrageous illustrations, this book pays tribute to an underappreciated body part. While the caricaturish depictions of tushies with personalities and faces may not make a lot of sense, they will provide some laughs.

The caricaturish illustrations add even more humor to a story that flips the usual parent-child relationship.

To decide on an official unit, King Balbazar hatches a contest, the winner of which will marry his daughter. Arzo, who's so poor he has only his feet to measure with, prevails. Deadpan speech-bubble commentary from humorously caricatured kingdom citizens outshines the off-kilter rhymes in this pourquoi tale.
