An "old and tired winter wind" needs a place to rest. Everywhere he goes he is shooed away, until he grows frustrated and angry. A girl hears the wind's cry and finds him a resting place. The bluish purple hues help personify the wind's exhaustion and anger, while the softness of the watercolors enrich the folklore-styled story of compassion, which isn't especially child-friendly.

Hayim's village is so devastated by drought that a holiday celebration seems impossible. Hayim drafts a letter to the Almighty begging for oil, and a serendipitous wind delivers the note to a rich merchant. Though a secondary conflict feels contrived, the humble-hero trope found in Jewish folklore, beautifully offset by delicately hued, geometrically accented illustrations, is effectively cast.
