An unseen speaker introduces items and characters with statements that are, for the most part, wrong (“This is a flower. Flowers grow all over the world and...go CHUGGA CHUGGA CHOOOO CHOOOO!!!!"). Or are they? A frustrated talking bookmark acts as a stand-in for the audience, reacting to the ridiculousness in speech-bubble dialogue and eventually pulling in the subjects themselves; readers and listeners will likely find the absurdity more enjoyable than the increasingly enraged bookmark does. Mixed-media illustrations in bold colors contain lots of room for our bookmark friend to amusingly bounce around.

When Dee and friends set out to find their missing librarian, they discover a bear in Ms. Merryweather's place! The pencil and digital-media illustrations burst with humorous details, such as 101 Recipes for Honey on the liBEARian's desk. The final twist--the bear has snuck out of a Goldilocks book along with another surprise character--will keep readers entertained through the last page.

This storytime book begins like the classic song...but then the bus gets a flat tire. The verses and rhymes work well throughout and are easy to sing, while sunny colors and cuddly animal characters reassure readers that a happy ending is on the way. With lots of help--and eleven more verses--the animals fix the wheel and head off to a picnic.
