(4) 1-3 Translated by J. Alison James. Illustrated by Ruth Scholte van Mast. When a lion cub is frightened by a rhinoceros, Father Lion tells her that lions are always brave. Later, when hunters come and Father is afraid, the cub learns the difference between caution and cowardice. The lesson is not entirely clear, however, since the cub displays appropriate caution with the rhinoceros. Childish pencil and watercolor illustrations show the lions in an African landscape.
