The texts are minimal and clear, reinforced by the accompanying combination of photographs and drawings atop lots of white space for a clean look. (4) PS Photographs by Leyah Jensen. Five young girls participate in their first ballet class. The pages lift up to show the moves, such as first position and relevé, and other class activities. Although the photographs are appealing, the format and occasional rhymes can be confusing. Also unfortunate is that the girl demonstrating first position does not have her heels touching.

The simple text presents a positive experience with an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship. The age-appropriate format features crisp photographs on a white background, enhanced with occasional illustrations. Soccer vocabulary--ball, cleats, dribble, pass--appear in bold blue letters.
