Illustrated by
Yuji Ando.
Frustrated with her ikebana lessons, a Japanese girl doesn't believe that her mother and grandmother once found the traditional art of flower arranging difficult, too. A mystical experience with an old woman gives the girl a new perspective on life and nature. Though slight, the quiet story is well written, and the illustrations are soothingly Zen-like in their depiction of nature.
