Illustrated by
Steve Jenkins.
Jenkins's inventive collages compel attention as they reveal patterns and shapes found in nature: on moth wings, spiderwebs, snake skins, and more. The book's design also reflects nature's patterns as when, for example, the text spirals like the snail shell it describes. Many of the poems are clever (a snake sheds its skin "like a knee-high sock"), but some are forced.
