Illustrated by
Jeff Mack.
In this pleasingly repetitive rhyme, a dog invites farm animals to play, but the lamb is too shy, the hare too fearful, and the chick too small. Bright illustrations hint at the next animal the dog will invite. They show him ever hopeful, then, with a page turn, dejected after each rejection, until at last he meets a child who'll play "All Day!"
