This book is now much larger, and the original black-and-white illustrations have been colorized by John O'Connor. The fanciful story of Henry Bear and his yearning for his absent father comes perilously close to sinking under the weight of its new look, but the underpinnings are solid and it can certainly hold its own among some of the flashier new picture books these days.
