Instrumental sounds mimic natural ones (percussion, a.k.a. thunder, is the only sound Jake dislikes), and cool-colored acrylic and tempera paintings highlight the lively black-and-white dog. Though somewhat contrived, the story accurately and affectionately depicts major orchestra sections. Glos.
